REGISTER NOW FOR BRITISH NEUROSCIENCE OLYMPIAD 2026

The Regional British Neuroscience Olympiad (BNO) 2026 Competition will take place on March 15-16, 2026. The registration is now open. Students can register themselves, and they do not need to register through the school. The online exam will have 50 questions which must be answered within 30 minutes. It will be proctored online and no cheating will be tolerated.

WHAT’S NEW IN THE BNO?

The British Neuroscience Olympiad 2026 will include 2 rounds:

  • Regional competition (anyone can participate from around the world)
  • National competition – (Top 50 students will be invited to participate in a live event in London)

Please note that the British Neuroscience Olympiad Bee is NOT part of the International Brain Bee. The winner will NOT be eligible for the International Brain Bee. However, you will be able to represent the UK in the International Neuroscience Olympiad. HOW TO PREPARE?

All the questions of the regional round competition will be drawn from Neuroscience: Science of the Brain (no questions will come from chapters 16 Artificial Brains and Neural Networks and 18 Neuroethics) and Brain Facts book.

For the national competition, the questions will come from Neuroscience: Science of the Brain, Brain Facts book released by the Society for Neurosciences, and Essential Neuroscience by Siegel.

NATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE OLYMPIAD 2026

The National Neuroscience Olympiad 2026 competition will be hosted around August 2025. The competition will include 4 parts:

  • MCQ test 
    • Around 90 multiple choice questions.
  • Patient diagnosis (you will be presented videos with patients and you will have to diagnose the condition).
    • The exam will involve 10-15 patient cases.
  • Neuroanatomy and Neurohistology (you will be given around 20 structures to identify from the Powerpoint slides with real brain and spinal cord specimens)
  • Live Q&A
    • Only Top 10 best performers form previous parts will be invited to answer questions live.
    • This section will be open to the public to observe.

The full day program and times will be announced shortly. This round is open to UK residents and all students globally.
